Journey Newson and Domingo Pilarte will both be looking for their first win in the octagon when they face off at UFC 247.
A bantamweight bout has been added to the early preliminary card at February’s UFC 247. Both Journey Newson and Domingo Pilarte will be looking to rebound from losses in their respective octagon debuts when they clash at the PPV event. Promotion officials added the bout to the official card Thursday.
Newson (9-2) made his promotional debut at UFC on ESPN 3 last June. There, he lost a three-round unanimous decision to Ricardo Ramos. That loss snapped a six-fight win streak for the 30-year old.
Dominago Pilarte (8-2), also 30, made his way to the UFC via Dana White’s Contender Series. He made his octagon debut at UFC on ESPN 4, losing a split decision to Felipe Colares. ‘Son of Fire’ will have the home field advantage at UFC 247, as he fights out of Houston.
UFC 247 takes place on February 8, 2020 at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. The card is headlined by light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defending his title against Dominick Reyes. With the addition of Newson vs. Pilarte the card currently breaks down as follows:
