Cheick Kongo Credit: Bellator MMA

Cheick Kongo finally got his Bellator heavyweight title shot, but it didn’t go as planned — with Ryan Bader retaining the belt at Bellator 226 after the fight was ruled a No Contest.

Bellator MMA returned to action Saturday night in its stronghold of San Jose, California. With a heavyweight title fight topping the Bellator 226 card, plus the opening four fights of the featherweight grand prix, the night promised plenty of action. And for the most part, it delivered — right up until the main event, which was stopped early due to an accidental eye poke.
