A key fight in the UFC’s heavyweight division will see the promotion once again match up former champ Junior Dos Santos with power-puncher Francis Ngannou.

UFC 239 continues to grow into a bigger and bigger event. Just added to the card is a heavyweight bout between Junior Dos Santos and Francis Ngannou. The former champ and challenger are both riding win streaks coming into this fight. ESPN was first to announce that the fight was agreed to. The UFC has not officially announced the match-up as it is yet to be signed off on, although that is expected in just a matter of days.

Francis Ngannou (13-3) is coming off the biggest win of his career. At UFC Phoenix, The Predator knocked out Cain Velasquez in 26 seconds. The knockout of the former champion puts Ngannou back in the hunt for a title once more after a two fight skid to Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis. Ngannou will be looking for his third win over a former champion at UFC 239, the other two being Andrei Arlovski and the earlier mentioned Velasquez

After Dos Santos (21-5) lost to then champion Stipe Miocic in 2017, the former champ rattled off three impressive wins. A victory over the un-killable Blagoy Ivanov, and knockouts over Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis has put Dos Santos in the position to challenge for the title again. A win over Francis Ngannou is sure to add another quality win to Junior Dos Santos already esteemed career.

Big goals for UFC 239

UFC 239 is looking to be a MONSTER of an event. The Las Vegas show has two title fights at the top of the card. First, Amanda Nunes will defend her bantamweight strap against Holly Holm. The main event boasts the return of Jon Jones as he takes on surging Thiago Santos, who has found a new home in the light heavyweight division. And added today was a match up between Ben Askren and Jorge Masvidal. Also on the card is Luke Rockhold making his light heavyweight debut against Jan Błachowicz. So far, the card has five current or former UFC champions.
