Combate Americas Rafa Garcia
Undefeated Rafa Garcia will headline the first Combate Americas event of 2019.

Combate Americas has announced their first card of 2019 as Rafa Garcia will face Edgar Escarrega in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico on February 8.

Combate Americas has announced their first event of 2019 for February 8 at the Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico.  The event will be headlined by surging contender Rafa “Gifted” Garcia and Edgar “Nasty Boy” Escarrega and an undercard packed with local and up-and-coming talent.

Garcia (8-0) is an undefeated teammate of UFC veteran Cub Swanson who will looking for his fifth victory under the Combate banner.  After winning his first six fights by submission, he changed things up in 2018 by defeating Chase Gibson via decision and most recently stopping LaRue Burly with strikes back in September.  A Mexicali native, Garcia will also have the home field advantage when he steps into the cage.

Escarrega (5-2-1) will be making his promotional debut as he seeks his fifth straight victory.  The Ensenada product has had the majority of his fights in his home region and his fight with Garcia could be an opportunity to fight in the United States and beyond with Combate.

A flyweight co-main event featuring more local Baja California talent was also announced as Edgar “Pitbull” Chairez (4-1) of Mexicali will take on Muay Thai champion Jose Alejandro Salazar of Playas de Rosarito who will be making his professional debut.

The event will be simulcast on Univision in Spanish and on DAZN in English on February 8 starting at 7 p.m. PT.
