Dan Hooker vs. Gilbert Burns is yet another solid addition to the star-studded UFC 226 card in July.

A couple of recent winners in the UFC’s lightweight division will come face-to-face at UFC 226. Stuff, out of Hooker’s native New Zealand, was first to report the news that Dan Hooker will meet Gilbert Burns at the event. UFC 226 takes place July 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Burns, after being yanked from a UFC Orlando bout against Olivier Aubin-Mercier in February due to weight issues during fight week, went on to join UFC on FOX 29 in Glendale last month. There, he steamrolled Dan Moret with a vicious knockout victory. Burns has won three of his last four, having knocked Jason Saggo out prior to the Moret win.

Dan Hooker, meanwhile, finished off UFC veteran Jim Miller at UFC Atlantic City at the end of April. That knockout via a brutal knee put Hooker on a three fight win streak. At 6-3 in the promotion, all six of Hooker’s UFC wins have come via a finish. He’s been awarded two Performance of the Night bonuses in that span.

Topping UFC 226 is a champion vs. champion superfight between light heavyweight title holder Daniel Cormier, and heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic. Also on the card, Max Hollowway will defend his featherweight title against Brian Ortega. The event takes place as part of the UFC’s international fight week, and is expected to be one of the biggest events of the year for the MMA powerhouse.
