ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams has become a family affair, with both Angela and Christian Lee in title fights.
ONE Championship’s Unstoppable Dreams card next month just got a little more interesting. On Wednesday, the Asian MMA promotion announced that Christian Lee would challenge for the promotion’s featherweight crown at the event. He’ll face two-division champion Martin Nguyen, who was recently shut down by Bibiano Fernandes in his quest for a third title.
What makes the booking even more compelling is that Christian’s sister, Angela Lee, will defend her women’s strawweight title against Mei Yamaguchi on the very same card. Which means there’s a chance both Lee siblings walk out of the night wearing ONE Championship gold.
Christian Lee (9-1), just 19, has spent his entire professional career under the ONE banner. He fired off five straight wins coming out of the gate, with his only loss coming in his sixth pro fight — against Nguyen. Since their first meeting, Lee has been perfect, most recently submitting Japan’s Kazunori Yokota earlier this month. All of Lee’s nine wins have come via stoppage.
Martin Nguyen (10-2) was on a six fight win streak prior to his split decision loss to Fernandes for the bantamweight title earlier this month. The bout with Lee will mark his first defense of the featherweight title in ONE. Nguyen also holds the promotion’s lightweight title.
ONE Championship: Unstoppable Dreams takes place May 18 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.
