Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza made short work of Derek Brunson on Saturday at UFC on FOX 27. Putting himself right back in title contention, what did his fellow pros make of the performance?

UFC Charlotte (UFC on FOX 27) touched down in Charlotte, NC on Saturday. The event was topped by a middleweight rematch between Brazil’s Jacare Souza, and Derek Brunson. Souza, a former Strikeforce champion, defeated Brunson back at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman in 2012, in a non-title affair. On Saturday in Charlotte, Brunson was looking for revenge over that knockout loss at the hands of Jacare.

For Brunson, it wasn’t to be. Though he displayed newfound patience and made sure not to rush in recklessly, the end result was the same. Brazil’s Jacare was firing off combos early, and a thunderous head kick made the difference, rocking Brunson in the very first round. Follow up strikes sealed the deal, and the ref waved it off.

With the win, Jacare put himself right back in contention. The dangerous submission specialist is just as formidable on the feet, as he proved against Saturday. So, what did his fellow pros think of the performance? Check out some of their reactions below!

With the win at UFC Charlotte, Jacare improved his record to 25-5 (1NC). His only losses since 2012 have come to Yoel Romero and current UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker.
