The UFC 215 card continues to shape up, with a key welterweight battle having been added to the Edmonton event. According to Postmedia, the recently cleared to return Neil Magny will face former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos as part of the night’s festivities. Magny unveiled his eligibility to return to action just days ago. The UFC wasted no time in finding an opponent for the sixth ranked welterweight, who prior to being out since December had been one of the most active fighters on the roster.

Magny (19–5), who joined the UFC as part of The Ultimate Fighter 16, defeated former welterweight champ Johny Hendricks last time out at UFC 207, the promotion’s big New Year’s show. Prior to that, he took a rare loss against Lorenz Larkin, who has since departed for Bellator MMA. Overall, Magny is 12-4 in the UFC since 2013, with wins over notable names like Hendricks, Hector Lombard, Erick Silva, and Kelvin Gastelum.

Rafael dos Anjos, meanwhile, looks to continue his run at 170lbs with a win over Magny. Last time out he scored a win in his welterweight debut against Tarec Saffiedine at UFC Singapore (UFC Fight Night 111). Prior to that, however, he’d dropped two straight, losing his lightweight title to Eddie Alvarez before dropping a decision to top lightweight contender Tony Ferguson.

Also added to the UFC 215 card is Edmonton resident Mitch Clarke (11-4). The lightweight will have the Canadian crowd firmly in his corner when he takes on American Alex White (11-3). White is 1-3 in his last four, while Clarke has lost two straight to Michael Chiesa and Joe Duffy.

UFC 215 takes place September 9 at the Rogers Place arena in Edmonton, Alberta. Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson vies for a record-breaking eleventh consecutive title defense in the main event when he meets challenger Ray Borg. In the co-main event, Amanda Nunes meets Valentina Shevchenko for the second time with the women’s bantamweight title on the line. That fight was originally the main event of UFC 213, but was scrapped when Nunes pulled out last minute due to an illness.
