$25 million. That’s the new gate record for the UFC, set by Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway 2 for UFC 329 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday.

The event broke the promotion’s previous $22 million record at The Sphere a year ago for UFC 306, UFC President Dana White confirmed to ESPN SportsCenter on Friday.

White had previously said the event was “the biggest gate in UFC history” during the UFC 329 pre-fight press conference on Thursday.

“The Conor McGregor Effect is huge,” White told ESPN on Friday.

McGregor (22-6) hasn’t been seen in the octagon since breaking his leg in the rubber match of his trilogy with Dustin Poirier in 2021. He had been slotted in to headline UFC 303 two years ago against Michael Chandler, his rival coach on The Ultimate Fighter 31 in 2023. However shortly before the event arrived, McGregor broke his toe in training and was forced to withdraw.

Conor McGregor has fought sporadically since being stripped of his lightweight title prior to a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, which finally came to pass in 2017. He’s 1-3 since his 155lb title win against Eddie Alvarez, which came at UFC 205 in New York City. McGregor’s lone win since that night in 2016 came against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone in 2020.

Much of the talk in the build-up to UFC 329 has been about McGregor’s future. The 37-year old has said he wants a quick turnaround following Saturday’s fight against Max Holloway, a rematch of their 2013 meeting, which McGregor won. Free agency looms, and Netflix recently made a splash with their Rousey vs. Carano event.

“He’s got two more fights, this one and then one more after this,” White confirmed to ESPN, without giving any details on the future of the sport’s biggest star.
