UFC strawweight and Dana White’s Contender Series alum Cheyanne Vlismas has announced her retirement from MMA.

The move comes over two years on from her last fight, and after the birth of her second child, with her family cited as a key reason the 30-year old is stepping away from the sport.

Vlismas went 2-2 inside the octagon, and posted a career record of 7-3 overall. Prior to signing with the UFC, she competed for LFA and Invicta FC, among other promotions.

“As of today I am officially retired,” Vlismas wrote in a retirement announcement posted on her social media presence. “This decision comes with a lot of heart break. But this is something that I need to do. After having my second child, my time is very limited. I am unable to give 100% into my training without giving less of myself to my babies.”

“This decision comes as I am choosing to be the parent that I wish I always had growing up.”

“As hard as this decision is because I love fighting so much with all my heart. My kids will always be put first,” Vlismas continued. “I know I am young and I could make a comeback but my decision came down to could I leave my kids for 2 months for a training camp? I simply cannot do so.”

Cheyanne Vlismas wrapped up her statement by thanking her team, coaches, fans, the UFC, and matchmaker Mick Maynard. “This was a dream. I didn’t get to fulfill all my dreams, but I made it to the highest level and now I’m gonna choose to give my all into being a mother. And lastly, thank you to all my fans.”

“I hope one day my kids will know their mother give her all into being the best I can be for them because this is not an easy goodbye for me.”
