Renato Moicano Wants To Climb Rankings, Get Checks, Fight For Title

UFC featherweight Renato Moicano comes into UFC 317 to face Beneil Dariush on Saturday night who he was supposed to have fought back in January.

Moicano (20-6-1) was supposed to fight Dariush at UFC 311 but got called up to the main event when Arman Tsarukyan fell out of the title fight against Islam Makhachev.

Clearly Moicano did not emerge victorious that night, but gets his original opponent at UFC 317.

“I’m young in my mind,” Moicano told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

“In the end of the day I used the same training partners, I used the same system, but I had more time. I focused more on my dieting on my training. This camp was even better than the last one.”

Dariush didn’t get a replacement that night, but Moicano did. Was it better for Dariush for not fighting or for Moicano?

“Benefit me that I got a lot of money, you know? I think that’s what I want and that’s what I got. I got this opportunity and I was happy. Sometimes life throws at you a challenge. I came up short, but now I have the chance to get back to beat Dariush and to climb the rankings again,” he said.

“I don’t care about rankings. Someday again with better preparation (I want to fight for the belt again.) I have to beat Beneil Dariush, I have to give a good speech to everybody, (and) bring more fans to my side. This is going to happen.”
