LFA lightweights Adam Livingston and Hugo Oyarzun both entered the cage at LFA 211 looking for a win and a call for a big opportunity coming off a win on Friday night.
Livingston (5-0) the Queens native came in undefeated taking on a short-notice opponent in Oyarzun. After a successful amateur and professional run in Flex Fights and CFFC, he entered the LFA octagon at LFA 194 taking a TKO victory in the first round.
Round 1 Livingston went after Oyarzun like a madman with hands forcing the latter to shoot for a takedown which was easily stuffed. Back to the feet and Livingston was not letting him off the hook to breathe working jabs, wheels kicks, everything but the LFA cage.
Oyarzun couldn’t get much going early on with the takedowns getting stuffed over and over again. Livingston did well to keep his legs away from the arms of Oyarzun and getting headlock position.
They scrambled to their feet, Oyarzun grabbed the front headlock, but couldn’t hang onto it and Livingston landed a knee on his opponent. Oyarzun overhand right landed, Livingston absorbed it well, then went off again with big shots.
Oyarzun fell his back, tried to get up, ate a massive shot from Livingston and ended up in headlock position again. The two popped back up to the feet and right into a clinch. Livingston tried to land an elbow on the fence, but nothing hit clean.
Back to the middle and Livingston went back to landing shots up top with Oyarzun doing his best to fire back. Oyarzun leg kick was answered by two big body shots that forced him backwards.
Livingston kept his foot on the gas mixing it up high and low and throwing some flashy wheel kicks in there until the round ended.
Round 2 Livingston kept the pressure on landing big shots on Oyarzun, but eating a couple too before stuffing yet another takedown. One of those shots cut Livingston on the right eyebrow, but not a terrible spot.
Livingston’s instincts were strong in this one as he clearly had his opponent’s timing down well. Anytime Oyarzun threw something Livingston was already going in with a big combo. Halfway through the second round and the young lightweight was clearly showing a lot more patience.
Oyarzun tried to pull guard, Livingston forced him to his feet, and the Long Island MMA product went off with a long combination of strikes that may have taken out lesser men. Oyarzun showed the toughness, pulled guard again, but forced to stand again. Livingston was clearly the better striker and his wrestling nullified the takedowns.
Livingston landed a massive right hand forcing Oyarzun into a panic shot, ended up on his hands a knees, Livingston landing strikes in side back control. Oyarzun continued to fight to create a scramble. ‘Adam Bomb’ wasn’t having it. He forced him to his feet.
With 15 seconds left in the round it became almost hard to watch, but Oyarzun was able to survive the round.
Round 3 Oyarzun said no mas as he refused to answer the bell.
Livingston jumps on the cage and tells everyone he wants that LFA lightweight title. Richie Miranda better be ready.
