While PFL Africa is set to debut in Cape Town, South Africa on July 19 (pulled forward from July 26), a second event has already been announced for Johannesburg the following month.
PFL Johannesburg will take place on August 9, 2025 at the Big Top Arena, Carnival City in Johannesburg, South Africa, promotion officials announced via press release on Tuesday.
Welterweight and featherweights will be in action as part of the PFL Africa tournament, with two fights announced for the August card.
In the main event, Patrick Ocheme (6-1) will face off against Mohamed Camara (5-2-1) in first-round featherweight action, while Shido Boris Esperanca (9-1) faces Ibrahima Mané (14-5) in the welterweight co-headliner.
More bouts are expected to be announced for the card in the near future. Per Tuesday’s press release, 32 fighters representing 15 African nations will compete across the four PFL Africa divisions in 2025.
While the PFL Cape Town event doubles as a PFL Champions Series card with big names like Johnny Eblen and Dakota Ditcheva attached, it remains to be seen if Johainnesburg gets any of the “big guns” that are out there.
The PFL has previously launched PFL Europe and PFL MENA (Middle East-North Africa), while looking to assemble a Premiere League-style system. More regional leagues are expected moving forward, with all feeding into the PFL World Tournament and PFL Champions Series.
