It looks like the Professional Fighters League will indeed make PFL Africa a reality as they’ve announced the debut event date of July 26 in Cape Town, South Africa.

The card will feature first round matchups in the bantamweight and heavyweight divisions which will have 8-man brackets. There will be four events across the continent with 24 fighters from 14 countries.

PFL Africa will be headlined by the return of Dakota Ditcheva and Johnny Eblen as part of five PFL Champions Series “Road To Dubai” fights. Both have expressed frustration with the lack of fight bookings recently.

Ditcheva (14-0) has been out of action since her PFL championships win last November over Taila Santos. She spoke out about the lack of activity recently and just days later PFL’s Donn Davis posted on his socials that fights were incoming for her and other fighters.

Eblen (16-0) has been out of action since his PFL Super Fights win over Fabian Edwards last October. The bout marked his second win over Edwards in his second fight for PFL.

The PFL Africa tournament is as follows:

  • Jashell Ticha Awa vs. Justin Clarke – Heavyweight
  • Abdoullah Kane vs. Mohammad Ben Yahia – Heavyweight
  • Nkosi Ndebele vs. Mahmoud Atef – Bantamweight
  • Simbarashe Hokonya vs. Abderrahman Errachidy – Bantamweight

Two of the five ‘Road To Dubai’ bouts were announced with more expected soon.

  • Johnny Eblen vs. Costello van Steenis
  • Dakota Ditcheva vs. Sumiko Inaba

PFL Africa’s chairman Francis Ngannou will lead PFL’s run in Africa.
