With no Pay-Per-View or Fight Night card from the Ultimate Fighting Championship this weekend, instead, it was the Road to UFC’s return for a fourth season that would have to keep fans of the promotion satisfied.
Using a grand-prix style “win or go home” format spread across three rounds, the Road to UFC Season 4 tournament once again represented a shot at making the big show for some of Asia’s best fighting talent.
The second two installments of the season, taking place in Shanghai, China, focused on the bantamweight and lightweight divisions. Five fights were attached to each card — two quarterfinals in each of the included weight classes, plus a featured bout.
