Alexa Grasso: “She shines with her legs, I shine with my hands.”

UFC flyweight Alexa Grasso gets a new opponent for the first time since 2022 when she faces a very game Natalia Silva at UFC 315 on Saturday night.

Grasso (16-4-1) has matched with current champion Valentina Shevchenko for her past three bouts. She gets a fresh matchup against the taekwondo style of Silva in Montreal.

“It’s a great challenge. She’s background with taekwondo. She kicks a lot and she moves a lot,” Grasso told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

“I think it’s going to be a super exciting fight. She shines with her legs, I shine with my hands, it’s going to be a beautiful war.”

Silva has been vocal with her confidence joking that the UFC should just send her the belt now. Grasso seemed amused, but didn’t take the bait to initiate any trash talk. She may have spent the last two years fighting Shevchenko, but Grasso is a fan of the sport. Silva isn’t new to her.

“I’m not in her shoes. Anyone can say whatever they want,” she said.

“I like to watch all the flyweights, I watch all women’s fights, but specially the ones that are in weight class. I like to watch each one of them. You never know who you’re going face next.”

Grasso seems to never be too far away from Shevchenko who is defending her title against Manon Fiorot in the co-main event. Being on the card is insurance for the UFC should either of the fighters in the title bout fall out.

Grasso doesn’t think she’ll be needed in that fight.

“I don’t think they’re going to need me. They’re both super professional. Manon has been waiting this opportunity for so, so long,” said Grasso.

“Valentina is super professional. I’m pretty sure they’re going to make weight.”
