UFC flyweight Tracy Cortez makes her return to the octagon at UFC 317 against Viviane Araujo on June 28 in Las Vegas.
First reported by Marcel Dorff.
Cortez (12-2) fights for the first time since her loss to Rose Namajunas last July. The loss snapped a 5-fight win streak, but she hung on in the rankings at #10. She holds victories over Jasmine Jasudavicius, Melissa Gatto, Justine Kish and Erin Blanchfield. She defeated Blanchfield by split-decision at Invicta FC 34 in 2019.
Araujo (13-6) took a decision victory over Karine Silva at UFC 309 last November. The former pancrase champion is 7-5 in her UFC run thus far with wins over Jennifer Maia, Andrea Lee and Montana de La Rosa in her resume.
With the UFC flyweight title up for grabs this Saturday at UFC 315 it’s clear both Cortez and Araujo will look to impress in their fight in hopes to add their names to the short list of contenders.
UFC 317 does not have a headliner set as of yet, but the card looks as follows:
- Paulo Costa vs. Roman Kopylov
- Brandon Royval vs. Manel Kape
- Michael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber
- Jhonata Diniz vs. Justin Tafa
- Tracy Cortez vs. Viviane Araujo.
UFC 317 takes place on June 28 in Las Vegas, NV at the T-Mobile Arena. It is the crown jewel of International Fight Week that includes UFC X, and the UFC Hall Of Fame ceremony.
