With UFC 315 less than a week away, the card has undergone a bit of a shake-up.
Thanks to Joel Alvarez withdrawing from his main card lightweight scrap with Benoit Saint-Denis (13-3, 1NC) due to a hand injury, Canada’s own Kyle Prepolec (18-8) will step in on short notice to keep BSD on the card.
SportsNet’s Aaron Bronsteter was first to report the news, which Prepolec later confirmed on social media. UFC 315 takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec this Saturday, May 10.
Prepolec, 35, had been booked into a fight with Michael Dufort at a Samourai MMA event this Friday. He’s won his last three fights, albeit fighting just once a year the past few years. Mitigating that, perhaps, is the fact that the former UFC fighter, who went 0-2 in his first stint with the company, has seen an opponent pull out, and an entire event be cancelled, during his recent win streak.
In 2019, Kyle Prepolec posted back-to-back losses to Nordine Taleb and Austin Hubbard in his brief UFC run. He’s also 1-1 under the Bellator MMA banner.
Saint-Denis is 0-2 in his last two outings, having been finished by both Dustin Poirier and Renato Moicano.
UFC 315 is headlined by a welterweight title fight between champ Belal Muhammad and rising star Jack Della Maddalena. The event currently features the following reported match-ups:
