Montel Jackson Doesn’t See Anything Different About Marcos

UFC bantamweight Montel Jackson comes into UFC Des Moines on a 5-fight win streak and hoping to add the undefeated Daniel Marcos’ name to his resume on Saturday night.

“Great. Feeling good, nice and relaxed, calm. Ready for Saturday night,” Jackson told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

Jackson (14-2) takes on the undefeated Marcos who comes in on a 4-fight win streak heading into UFC Des Moines. Jackson doesn’t believe that his opponent will bring anything he hasn’t seen before into the octagon.

“Good striker. He’s nothing like the division. He’s not like something that I haven’t seen in the division before. We got a good makeup of guys who can strike, grapple, do both. It’s no different,” he said.

He comes into the fight with his #15 ranking and taking on the unranked Marcos. Most fighters would prefer to take on someone ranked higher than themselves, but that means waiting to see who is booked and who’s available.

“Of course you always do, but it’s the fight game. You got to go out there and fight. If I would have got somebody ahead of me it would have meant waiting another 4-5 months. Time waits for nobody so we gotta go,” said Jackson.

‘Quik’ only sees victory on the horizon regardless of how good Marcos is.

“He a good striker,” he said.

“I see it going my way.”
