Back at UFC 314 in Miami just over a week ago, we asked Paddy Pimblett if “Fat Paddy” was gone for good.

Pimblett, the U.K. lightweight who is one of the UFC’s hottest stars at the moment, is notorious for blimping up between fight camps. And despite being the father of young twins and inching closer to a title shot with his win over Michael Chandler in Miami, Pimblett assured us that the heavier Paddy would still be around.

“I’d rather be fat and happy than ripped all the time like Michael Chandler, know what I mean? Didn’t pay off dividends for him there,” Pimblett told Cageside Press at the Kaseya Center after his co-main event fight. “Respect to Mike and that for staying in shape all year round, but I’d rather be chubby for a few months, lad, and then not get my head punched in, then be ripped all year round.”

He wasn’t kidding. Appearing on the It’s Time podcast with Bruce Buffer recently, Pimblett revealed that he’d already gained back a full 40 pounds from his fight weight in Miami.

Asked about his weight, Pimblett revealed he was around 195 pounds. “Yeah, yeah, I think like 195. I think this morning— on Sunday I had about five milkshakes after the fight, literally,” Pimblett said on It’s Time. “This morning I woke up [at] like 198, which is fat.

“That’s about the heaviest I get. I don’t really touch 200— only if I’m in the States. That food just makes me into a machine. I’m just massive in the States, but when I’m back in the U.K., the highest I’ll reach is like 195, something like that.”

Asked about the discrepancy between his weight at home and in the U.S, Pimblett pointed to portion sizes in the latter, which tend to be a fair bit larger than the rest of the world.

“Just the servings. The amount of food. Just even the drinks. Because in the U.K. if I go to a restaurant and order say a Coca-Cola, I just get that one Coca-Cola. In the States, I’m sitting there and there’s still that much of my Coca-Cola left and they come over and take it and put a brand new one down.”
