The upcoming UFC Seattle card, which takes place on February 22, continues to take blow after blow.
As first reported by Cageside Press, Dominick Cruz was forced out of the event (and subsequently retired), leaving opponent Rob Font without an opponent. In addition, UFC officials on Thursday confirmed that Macy Chiasson’s fight was cancelled, while Curtis Blaydes vs. Rizvan Kuniev had been shifted to UFC 313 in March.
“Due to injury, Macy Chiasson has been removed from her bantamweight bout with Kelten Vieira. As a result, this bout has been removed from the card,” a brief statement on the promotion’s official website read. “In addition, the heavyweight bout between Curtis Blaydes and Rizvan Kuniev has been rescheduled to UFC 313: PERERIA vs ANKALAEV on March 8.”
The hits didn’t stop coming there. As first reported by MMA Fighting’s Damon Martin, Edson Barboza is out of his bout with Steve Garcia.
In a small bit of good news, Nursulton Ruziboev joins the card to face newcomer Eric McConico at middleweight. News of the booking broken by MMA Mania’s Alex Behunin. UFC officials have also announced Alonzo Menifield vs. Julius Walker at light heavyweight, with #15 ranked 205’er Menifield taking on a promotional newcomer.
Menifield had been booked against Oumar Sy in March, but with Sy out, he was pulled forward to the UFC Seattle card.
