The UFC returns to Sydney, Australia on Saturday for UFC 312, a card that, for a rare occasion, is not headlined by any of the region’s big names.
Alexander Volkanovski is no longer featherweight champ. Israel Adesanya is coming off a third consecutive loss. Dan Hooker is booked into a high-octagon affair with Justin Gaethje next month. No, UFC 312 features Australia’s up-and-coming talent in supporting roles, while South African middleweight champ Dricus Du Plessis headlines in a rematch against the always controversial Sean Strickland – in the same venue that saw him shock Adesanya to win 185lb gold in 2023.
In the co-main event, Weili Zhang takes on Tatiana Suarez, with Zhang’s strawweight title on the line. After years plague by injury, Suarez finally gets her title shot, after winning The Ultimate Fighter 23 tournament nearly a decade ago.

The first four fighters to weigh in for UFC 312 on Friday were the headliners and co-headliners, and all four made weight without issue. One fight, the flyweight prelim between Park Hyun-sung and Nyamjargal Tumendemberel, was announced as cancelled just prior to weigh-ins commencing.
