Ernesta Kareckaite Critical of Performance at UFC Vegas 101

Las Vegas — Flyweight Ernesta Kareckaite is almost certainly her own worst critic.

Almost as soon as she had won a split decision victory over Nicolle Caliari at UFC Vegas 101 on Saturday, the Lithuanian was being somewhat critical of her own performance.

“I’m happy, but at the same time, I had a lot of mistakes,” she told media outlets backstage at the UFC Apex following the event, with Cageside Press and others on hand. “So it’s 50/50.”

The game plan, she added, “was to connect with more punches, and I didn’t do that. So that’s why I’m hard on herself.”

Despite the problems Kareckaite had with her showing on Saturday, there were few surprises for her in the fight. “We were prepared for everything. Of course every girls has some surprises, but at the same time we were preparing for everything.”

Moving forward, with her first win in the UFC under her belt, Kareckaite is hoping to stay busy in 2025. “Yeah I hope so. I really want to stay busy this year, and I want to show myself and show my skills, and be better every time.”

There were some positive takeaways for Kareckaite on Saturday as well.

“Of course there are some things, I was better in some ways as we were working. My wrestling got better, I’m feeling better, my strength was better, my weight cut was very good. So we are achieving our goals, and we are getting better every time. I’m wishing to do that every time.”
