Lightweights Thiago Moises and Trey Ogden faced off on the preliminary card of UFC Vegas 101 on Saturday, the first event of 2025 for the promotion.

Moises was looking to bounce back from a loss to L’udovit Klein, while Ogden had won over the judges in his last two UFC outings.

Moises started the fight by landing calf kicks. The Brazilian was looking noticeably quicker in this fight, landing quick strikes in combination. Ogden was feinting, and landing clean jabs. The first round was a mostly cagey, technical affair, with both fighters making their reads, no concussive shots landed.

Thiago Moises went straight back to the well with the low leg kicks in round two. The Brazilian lightweight put the “Shamurai” onto the canvas with a very nice leg kick, and immediately went to the ground with Ogden. Moises maintained top position for the rest of the round.

Ogden started the third round with a strong straight right. Miles Johns, teammate and corner man for Ogden, advised him to get a takedown. Ogden obliged, but ended up getting out scrambled by Moises, and Moises regained top position.

After the fight, it became apparent that Ogden tore his bicep. The hope is that it isn’t too significant, and we see Ogden back in the Octagon again soon.

Official Result: Thiago Moises def. Trey Ogden by Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
