Las Vegas – Imagine a prime Wanderlei Silva fighting in today’s UFC against the best that the division has to offer.
One of the newest inductees to the UFC Hall of Fame spoke on how he would take on some of the best of this generation.
“I think to beat the technique and win against technique only aggressiveness,” Silva told Cageside Press through a translator at UFC X during International Fight Week.
“I think so many fighters today they fight not to lose. They don’t fight to win.”
Silva (35-14-1) fought in two weight classes hopping between middleweight and light heavyweight during his career. How would he handle the current 205 champion Alex Pereira or his most recent challenger Jiri Prochazka?
“In MMA those UFC gloves they’re small and one strike can change everything. My style is to go after that shot,” Silva said.
‘The Axe Murderer’ was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame during International Fight Week alongside Shogun Rua, Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen and Joanan Jedrzejczyk among others.
“Thanks to the UFC to give this great opportunity to be (in) the hall of fame. This is actually to prove that the UFC recognizes the legends, recognizes the people that helped build this sport,” he said.
“So good to (see) some of my friends again. To be together, to remember the best days, I have a (blessed) weekend.”
