Jorge Masvidal Eyeing Combat Sports Return, Hyped For Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 7

Orlando, FL – Preparing to host Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 7 at the Kia Center in Orlando is Jorge Masvidal who is leaning heavily into his combat sports experience as he leads the promotion into 2024.

“There is a lot of players in the game, but none of those player got the motherf*cking experience, the different hats that I’ve worn in this space,” Masvidal told Cageside Press.

“The hunger, drive, and the in and outs of the sport. I’m literally the f*cking definition of a motherf*cker that started at the very, very bottom of this sport and worked my way to the top.”

Masvidal holds valuable experience in combat sports ranging from boxing, to the famous backyard brawls in Florida, and a long tenure with the UFC.

“I’ve been around the game for a while. I’ve been part of the biggest promotion in the history of combat called the UFC for 10 plus years. I’ve fought for numerous promotions all over the world just learning stuff,” Masvidal said.

“Sometimes I wasn’t even trying to learn stuff, but I just learned things from being in the process. That’s one thing that I think really makes our promotion stand out.”

At Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 7 Masvidal has rolled out the big guns as two former UFC fighters will throw down in a heavyweight championship bout in Orlando. Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will face Alan Belcher in the main event on March 2.

“We’ve got Junior dos Santos versus Alan Belcher. Alan Belcher’s undefeated bareknuckle boxing like 8 fights, you know. He really understands the game of bareknuckle well. He came over to do bareknuckle MMA with us against Roy Nelson, won a close decision, so I definitely would give the experience of no gloves to Alan Belcher,” he said.

“Now JDS is who he is. Heavyweight champion, has pretty much done all in this sport, and he has one win over Fabricio Werdum bareknuckle. It’s such an interesting fight. Every day that I think about this fight I come up with new different conclusion.”

Masvidal retired following his loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in 2023, but the itch to fight continues to haunt the former UFC welterweight.

“I said I’m un-retired and it wasn’t for nothing. You’ll definitely see your boy with some boxing gloves this year breaking some eye orbitals, snapping some f*cking ribs, making motherf*ckers piss blood from their kidneys,” he said.

“When I retired, after like three weeks, I was like ‘did I do the right thing?’. I can’t wait to get in the boxing ring. No wrestling, no f*cking jiu-jitsu, none of that. Just straight f*ck them up!”
