UFC featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski is set to defend his title later this month at UFC 298, and he’s firing back at critics saying he’s “too old.”

In a hilarious video promo, Volkanovski, 35, watches tape of opponents on a VHS, falls asleep in his arm chair, and responds to online critics via typewriter, all while dressed in a housecoat, sweater, and other age-appropriate garb.

It’s perhaps the best promo for anything UFC related in the past year, and was produced by Australian betting outlet Sportsbet.com.au.

Watch out for a nasty beef brewing between Volkanovski and his neighbour as well — a 50/50 fight if we’ve ever seen one.

Alexander Volkanovski (26-3) has not lost as a featherweight in the UFC and has defended his 145lb title five times. That has put him in the running for the greatest featherweight of all time, alongside Jose Aldo and Max Griffin, both of whom the Australian holds wins over.

On February 17, 2024 at UFC 298 in Anaheim, CA, Volkanovski will look to make another defense of his featherweight crown, this time against the undefeated Ilia Topuria.

Topuria, who has feuded with Brit Paddy Pimblett in the past, sparked talk of Volkanovski’s age by claiming the champ was “old” and needed to retire. A German-born Spaniard of Georgian heritage, Topuria is 27 in comparison to Volkanovski’s 36. Topuria’s last three wins have earned him post-fight bonuses.
