Jasmine Jasudavicius took on Priscila Cachoeira in a women’s bantamweight fight on the preliminary portion of UFC 297 in Toronto on Saturday.

Yes, you read that right: bantamweight. After Cachoeira was unable to come anywhere close to 125lbs for the contracted flyweight bout, her team and the UFC began negotiations with the Jasudavicius camp, with Jasmine telling Cageside Press on Friday that no explanation was given for the miss (the Canadian also released a video suggesting Cachoeira just plain sucked at cutting weight).

After a 130lb catchweight didn’t work for Brazil’s Cachoeira, bantamweight was settled on, though both ladies hit the scales at under 134lbs (133 for Jasmine, 133.5 for Cachoeira).

The first round started off with Cachoeira landing a couple nice jabs leading to Jasudavicius shooting and landing a nice takedown. Jasudavicius was able to transition into top mount early in the fight and land huge ground and pound. Cachoeira was never able to get off her back eating tons of damage for 4 minutes of the round.

The second round round started with a bang with Jasmine landing a straight right hand that dropped Priscila Cachoeira. Jasmine landed some more ground and pound and transitioned back to the mount after landing the straight right. Jasmine Jasudavicius was more active in trying to find the finish looking to execute the darce choke from side control. She was able to sync it in from the mount after more vicious ground and pound but ultimately was not able to finish the fight heading into a third and final round.

The third and final round started off good for Priscila Cachoeira stuffing multiple takedowns. Jasmine Jasudavicius was slowing down and not setting up her takedowns. Cachoeira made a mistake in the striking department leading back to where she had been the last two rounds on her back after giving up the double leg. Jasmine was able to take advantage of that mistake this time finishing the fight with a darce choke. Jasudavicius was able to land 281 more strikes than her opponent.

This was a fantastic performance for the hometown girl Jasmine Jasudavicius. Cachoeira has had trouble with good grapplers thus far in the UFC and missed weight again for her fight. Jasmine Jasudavicius stated after the fight “We are professionals get your sh*t together”.

Official Result: Jasmine Jasudavicius def. Priscila Cachoeira via R3 Submission (Anaconda Choke), 4:21
