Rob Font Looking For Big Fight After Win Over Figueiredo

Austin, TX – UFC bantamweight Rob Font welcomes former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo to 135 at UFC Austin on Saturday night.

“You have a lot of film on him. This guy’s been fighting, feels like, (Brandon) Moreno for the last 10 years it almost feels like,” Font told reporters on Wednesday.

“You know he’s going to bring it. You know he’s going to put on an exciting fight. I wouldn’t say (I feel) a little more pressure. You could put more pressure on yourself, but I don’t. I see it as him coming to my division and I’m glad to welcome him.”

Figueiredo is making the move to bantamweight after finishing on the losing end of a series of bouts with Moreno. When Font heard of the move he jumped at the chance to welcome him to 135-pounds.

“We asked for this fight after my fight in Miami. It didn’t play out and then it eventually came back around. You know if you’re stepping in the cage with Deiveson he’s going to bring it. I think our styles are just going to definitely be fight of the night potential for sure,” Font said.

For Font it’s about more than just the win. Defeating a former champion, regardless of weight class, does look good on a resume.

“He has a huge name, former champion, I feel like this should put me right back into that conversation. If not another big fight for sure,” he said.

“That’s all we take I feel like. Regardless of how this fight plays out I’m going to fight another big fight.”
