Javid Basharat Sees Fight With Victor Henry As ‘Top 15’ fight

This coming Saturday at UFC 294, Javid Basharat will look to continue his win streak in the UFC, as he takes on Victor Henry.

The two 135lbers were originally scheduled to fight back in September on the Fiziev vs Gamrot Fight Night card, but Henry withdrew.

Since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series back in 2022, “The Snow Leopard” has won his first three UFC fights, slowly creeping up to the bantamweight rankings.

Victor Henry, despite only being three fights into his UFC tenure, is a very experienced professional, and in his short stint so far in the UFC, has picked up a few impressive victories.

Javid Basharat spoke about his opponent at the UFC 294 media day, and admitted that he is seeing this fight as a top 15 fight.

“As far as i’m concerned, this is a top 15 fight. Rankings or no rankings, if me and him are ranked it doesn’t matter, the calibre of this fight is top 15. Me and him are better than a lot of guys that are in the top 15 and just because he hasn’t fought (a lot) in the UFC, he’s fought a lot of good guys outside of the UFC so yeah it’s a great fight and he’s a good fighter.”

The 28-year-old also talked about the awkward style that Victor Henry possess’ and how his camp has prepared him for that.

“Catch wrestling has been around for a long time but now it’s seen as an awkward style because not many people do it, but I grapple with the highest level grapplers in the world. My coaches Jake Shields, I train with Jason Manly regularly, I got Patchy Mix, my brother Farid, Amir Albazi these are all the best grapplers in the world so i’ll be prepared for anything, catch wrestling, jiu-jitsu, whatever he wants to do.”
