UFC Vegas 80: Grant Dawson Wants Dan Hooker If He Gets Through Bobby Green In First UFC Main Event

Grant Dawson will headline his first UFC event this coming Saturday as he takes on Bobby Green at UFC Vegas 80.

Despite Green being unranked, Dawson (20-1-1) believes that a win over “King” would be more beneficial for him than beating a few fighters inside the top 15, due to Bobby Green’s ‘star power.’

“Matchups don’t make any sense to me anyway and anything outside of the champion is just suggestion. The rankings change every single day and if he beats me on Saturday night then the matchmaking wasn’t that weird.

“I think a win over Bobby Green does more for my career than a couple of wins over some other guys in the top 15. I just think he’s got that big of a star power, he’s that big of a veteran and i’m expecting the best Bobby Green on Saturday night.”

“KGD” is unbeaten so far in his UFC tenure that spans back to 2019. During that four year period, he has picked up eight wins and a draw, with his last win against Damir Ismagulov being the most impressive.

Dawson went onto say that he has a few names in mind that he wants to call out if things go as planned on Saturday night, but isn’t overlooking Green. “Right now the only thing that matters is getting through Bobby Green because if I lose to Bobby Green all of that goes away.

“The biggest thing for me is just to stay focused, focus on beating Bobby Green and doing what I know I can do, after that we’ll have some names. Like I said before I come up with names that I’m going to call out but they’re for different scenarios.”

Not long after, the 29-year-old explained that the three names he will call out in priority order will be Dan Hooker, Matt Frevola and Diego Ferreira.
