Noche UFC: Roman Kopylov Wants Higher-Ranked Opponents, Goal Is to “Go for the Title”

Las Vegas, NV — Coming out of a bloody, one-sided showing at Noche UFC, middleweight Roman Kopylov now sits on a four fight win streak.

And he’s unquestionably happy with the performance he put on against Josh Fremd at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday.

“I’m very happy about it, I hope that all the fans are happy about it. I think that all the UFC bigwigs are happy about it as well,” Kopylov (12-2) told media outlets including Cageside Press. “That’s what we’re here for, we’re here to show exciting fights. So thank you.”

Fremd spent a good deal of the fight bloodied, a factor that did not go unnoticed by former Fight Nights Global champ Kopylov, who wound up coated in that same blood.

“He actually covered me in his own blood as well. I could definitely see that the blood was a factor for him, so I was just waiting for the right moment to finish the fight.”

After bloodying Fremd with shots upstairs, it was a series of blows to the body that put the fight away in the second round.

“I think that I landed a few liver kicks, and then maybe a liver punch as well. Even though he kept alluding to the fact that they weren’t bothering him, I could see that his hands kept on going down,” Kopylov. “So I knew that I needed to hunt the liver more, and I was going to finish with the liver.”

Now on a four-fight win streak with four finishes, all by KO/TKO, Kopylov was asked whether he’s targeting the rankings moving forward.

“I would like, with every fight, for my opponent to be a higher-ranked opponent,” replied Kopylov. “My goal is to go for the title.”
