Alexander Volkov Wary Of Tuivasa KO Power, Sad If Bellator Is Sold And Disappears

Syndey, Australia – Taking on the hometown hero can be a difficult proposition, but UFC heavyweight Alexander Volkov will look to do just that at UFC 293 against Tai Tuivasa on Saturday night.

“He’s pretty dangerous with his punch for sure. You can’t ignore this,” Volkov told reporters on Wednesday.

“He’ll be dangerous for me from first, second, to the end of the fight. I have a lot more techniques in my arsenal against him so I’ll try to use it.”

In a fight like this one against a knockout artists like Tuivasa the thought could be that the first one to make a mistake is likely going to lose.

“It’s hard to (not make a mistake) in a fight because any fight for sure have some mistakes. It’s really hard to think about (not making a mistake in a fight),”he said.

Besides being the #7 ranked UFC heavyweight Volkov also has a championship in a major promotion on his resume. Volkov was the heavyweight champion for Bellator in 2012.

With many calling a sale of Bellator as ‘imminent’ and likely being absorbed by another promotion Volkov expressed a bit of sadness to the possibility of his former promotion disappearing soon.

“Bellator (gave opportunities) for people from another part of the world,” said Volkov.

“I will be sad if Bellator (disappears).”
