Manon Fiorot Unimpressed By Blanchfield, Calls For Title Shot With Win Over Namajunas

Paris, France – UFC flyweight Manon Fiorot returns to the octagon after almost a year away at UFC Paris on Saturday, and she welcomes to the division the former UFC strawweight champion Rose Namajunas.

“I haven’t actually seen her with my own eyes. I haven’t seen the difference physically,” Fiorot told reporters including Cageside Press through a translator on Wednesday.

Taking on a former champion, and 5-fight UFC win streak, puts Fiorot on the short list for a title shot at 125-pounds. With a win over Namajunas it may put her at the top of the list although she’d have to deal with Erin Blanchfield on her own win streak also calling for a shot.

“Im 100% sure that if I put in a good performance in this fight, considering the performance that we’ve seen from (Taila) Santos and Blanchfield, I’m going to be fighting for the belt. I’m 100% convinced,” she said.

The shot at Blanchfield vs. Santos clearly indicated that Fiorot was not impressed by the fight.

“Until this point she (Blanchfield) never really fought against an opponent at a high level and I think this fight showed her real level. I wasn’t really that impressed,” said Fiorot.

Still she must get past Namajunas in order to truly lay claim to any title shot.

“I think Rose is one of the best fighters we’ve seen. She’s an incredible fighter. I personally put her in top 5 rankings. She’s a former champion as well,” she said.

“So it’s a massive test for me as well before I want to go and get that fight for the belt.”
