On a treacherous 1-4 stretch over his last five fights, former heavyweight Tanner Boser had called for one more chance to show what he could do in the octagon — and that opportunity arrived at UFC Nashville on Saturday, where the Canadian took on Aleksa Camur in a light heavyweight fight.

Boser, who recently dropped to light heavyweight, badly needs a win as he’s riding a two-fight losing streak last against Ion Cutelaba in Kansas City. He gets Camur in Nashville determined to save his roster spot in the UFC.

Round 1 began with a tentative Boser who threw a front kick early to warn Camur. Camur meanwhile used his movement to create a shot and got into the clinch with Boser. Once Boser was able to get out of it and get back to popping the jab out. His game plan seemed to be jab, then front kick, the lateral movement to reset. It was all jabs all the time for Boser who mixed in the front kick at times, and was able to stop any takedowns from Camur.

Round 2 and Boser suddenly remembered he can shoot for takedowns too, and even though he had a rough time getting them, the clinch position favored him as he landed elbows in close. Then once they broke and got to the middle, the right hand bombs landed for Boser plenty. Boser would clinch and look for the takedown, but wouldn’t sell out for it. He was happy to clinch, lands in close, then land on the way out. Camur tried to match his power, but couldn’t match the volume.

Round 3 Boser stayed on his clinch game looking to take Camur down, but settling for landing on him in close. Camur clearly knew he was down on the cards and tried to set up kill shots. Boser got the best of Camur, but Aleksa wasn’t giving up easy as he would take shots to land shots. At the end of the fight both men looked like they had been in a bar fight, but all sings pointed to a Boser victory.

Official Result: Tanner Boser def. Aleksa Camur via Unanimous Decision (30-27×3)
