Gabriel Bonfim’s Debuting With Brother In Jan. Was “Dream Come True”, Looking For Brazil In Nov.

Salt Lake City, UT – Coming off a spectacular UFC debut where he fought on the same card as his brother in his home country of Brazil, welterweight Gabriel Bonfim looks to score stay undefeated, when he takes on Trevil Giles at UFC 291.

The Bonfim brothers both fought at UFC 283 in Jan. with both men scoring finishes in their respective fights.

“It was a dream. To be debuting in the greatest event in the world next to my brother. Him getting an amazing knockout. Me finishing the fight as well. It was a dream come true,” Bonfim told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

Unfortunately his brother Ismael suffered a loss in July when he was submitted by Benoit St. Denis. Gabriel learned lessons from his brothers loss, but maintains they are two different fighters.

“We’ve said this all along that we’re in the World Cup of MMA. Different lives. What happened to him, first of all, this happens. These road blocks will happen in our lives. Doesn’t change a thing in my life because I know he’s coming back, and he’s going to come back better than ever,” he said.

For Bonfim his return to the octagon will be against Giles who comes into UFC 291 on a two-fight win streak.

“He’s a guy that comes in with experience, some years in the UFC, a compete athlete. Very strong with striking, and I do see he has a base on the ground,” said Bonfim.

“We trained a lot and he can be ready for me to be, not only ready in the striking, but also on the ground.”
