UFC Vegas 75: Marvin Vettori Wants Cannonier to Fight Like There’s No Second Round

Marvin Vettori has been amped up for his middleweight main event with Jared Cannonier at UFC Vegas 75 this Saturday.

“The Italian Dream” is 2-2 in his last four fights, with Vettori (19-6-1) coming into the weekend off a win over Roman Dolidze.

Part of what has Vettori so hyped up is that when it comes to Cannonier, “he’s going to bring the best out of me, so that’s what I want. A good opportunity to just show how good I am.”

Cannonier said during his own media day appearance that with he and Vettori having been around for so long, both man pretty much knows what to expect from the other. Vettori agreed up to a point.

“Yes, but I don’t think he knows exactly what I’m going to do, because I’m constantly improving, and it’s definitely going to be an improved version of myself,” said Vettori. “And you can’t prepare for that, because I always come with something more.”

“Overall, for sure. We’ve been around, we definitely kind of know what kind of fighters we are. But man, this fight will be amazing. This fight will be a banger. I really want it to be the best performance of my life.”

Cannonier has suggested that despite Vettori being better known as a grappler, he might be the one to take the fight to the ground. He also wants to be the first to stop the Italian.

That sort of talk was welcomed by Marvin Vettori.

“Please, please, please, try and go on and do it. Please, please. Yes. Come. Bring it. Let’s go. I cannot welcome him more than that. I cannot welcome him more. Please bring it. just bring it. Like big drama show, like Triple G says. Come on, bring it on. Please. Let’s just fight like there’s not a second round. Just bring it. Please. That to me shows there’s no confidence in himself, to be honest with you. But yes please, let’s make it that way. Bring it.”

As much as Vettori wants to make his way back to another shot at Israel Adesanya, he understands the winner of Dricus Du Plessis vs. Robert Whittaker is likely next. “We’ll let that fight play out, and then I’m next.”
