Bellator 294: Levan Chokheli Says He’s a Better Fighter When Tired

Levan Chokheli earned a unanimous decision win at Bellator 294, putting together a two fight win streak — and according to the Georgian welterweight, everything went according to plan.

“That was my plan, my team’s plan. Control everywhere, smash this guy. Mix it— strike with hands, punching, kicking, low kick, upkick, body kick high kick,” Chokheli told media outlets including Cageside Press following the fight. “I have a lot of stuff with my hands, with my legs. Everything. And mix in, end of round, take him down. Make some ground n’ pound. It is what it is. That was my plan, that was my game.”

“I think that was my fight 100%,” Chokheli later added. And despite tiring a little in the third, he felt as though he performed his best in the final five minutes. That, in fact, is usually his best round, Chokheli explained.

“I think the third round is my top round. Because when I get a little bit tired, then I’m a better fighter. No emotion, just aggressiveness. Just plain follow the strategy.”

As for what comes next, Levan Chokheli has two ranked opponents in mind: Neiman Gracie, and Michael “Venom” Page.

“I was in top 10, and then they changed it. But now I know I’m going to be top 10 guaranteed and I want to fight with Neiman Gracie and MVP,” Chokheli stated. “I know they are up on the top, but I want a more, top 5, I want to fight with Neiman. I respect Neiman, I respect MVP, but I want to fight with them.”
