UFC veteran Karl Roberson is facing a number of serious charges related to a residential burglary and subsequent arrest.
On December 26, 2022, Howell Township Police responded to a robbery call at a private residence in which over $200,000 in exotic jewellery and valuables had been pilfered following a forced entry. Two suspects were caught on video, with clips later circulated on social media and a reward posted for information regarding the incident.
On March 27, after the two suspects were identified, police and Monmouth County Prosecutors Office Detectives made a pair of arrests. The first suspect, Dathan Thompson, of Neptune, NJ, was apprehended without incident. The second, Roberson, was arrested during a motor vehicle stop in Neptune, while in a vehicle allegedly linked to the burglary. During his arrest, a search warrant was executed on the vehicle, with police alleging that a “defaced 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, several packages of suspected ‘crack cocaine,’ marijuana, and items related to the burglary’ were found.
Roberson, 32, is now facing charges of burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of controlled dangerous substance, and “several weapons offenses.”
Howell Township Police announced the news in a press release posted to the department’s Facebook Page on Saturday. Cageside Press reached out to the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office, who declined to comment beyond the initial announcement of Roberson’s arrest.
Information on court hearings for Roberson is expected to be forthcoming, per a Public Information Officer (PIO) with the prosecutor’s office.
Roberson last fought in July of 2022, suffering a TKO loss against Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC Vegas 58. The defeat was Roberson’s fourth consecutive loss, and resulted in his exit from the promotion.
A winner on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2017, Roberson (9-6) would go on to post a 4-6 record in the UFC proper. He shared the cage with the likes of Marvin Vettori and Glover Teixeira, and holds wins over Roman Kopylov and Darren Stewart, among others.
