UFC Kansas City: Azamat Murzakanov Looks To Make 2023 A Statement Year

Kansas City, MO – One of six light heavyweights fighting at UFC Kansas City on Saturday night Azamat Murzakanov looks to make 2023 his statement year, and it begins against Dustin Jacoby.

“So this isn’t going to be a kickboxing match. I mean this is MMA right. We all know that so Jacoby for me is just a regular opponent nothing much, nothing special,” Murzakanov told reporters including Cageside Press on Wednesday.

Murzakanov (12-0) remains undefeated in his career, and at 36-year-old knows that time is not on his side when it comes to making a title run in the UFC. So making 2023 a statement year is important for him, and a win over Jacoby could propel him towards title contention sooner than later.

“From the very first minute I’m going to keep pushing forward. I’m going to make sure that I’m going to try and get a finish as fast as I can, but most important to me is really the victory,” he said.

As far as being labeled a contender in this calendar year?

“Yes that’s my hope of course.”
