UFC Las Vegas: Nikita Krylov Details Getting Sick Before Main Event Cancellation

Las Vegas, NV – Not long after his main event fight fell through due to falling ill UFC light heavyweight Nikita Krylov is back, once again against Ryan Spann, but this time at UFC Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Krylov (29-9) was pulled from the fight the morning of UFC Vegas 70 after getting sick the night before. UFC medical staff was unable to get him well enough to fight and the main event was scrapped.

Krylov explained that in his hotel room they did not have a refrigerator, which is a weird thing in this day and age, but obviously possible.

“I take my food in evening Friday, and Saturday morning I take food. After 90 minutes, maybe two hours, I feel my temperature get higher. I feel (nauseous). We (came to the APEX) worked with the doctor. He gave me one pill. After one more pill we tried (all that we could to make the fight),” Krylov told reporters on Wednesday.

“I (couldn’t) do it.”

For Krylov the emotions were high after he had to withdraw because it meant he went through camp and the travel just to not be able to fight, get paid, or anything.

Now the fight is 3 rounds instead of 5, but Krylov really wanted the main event spot.

“In theory this look better, but for me better make my first main event. Show great fight, but it is what it is,” Krylov said.

“I’m happy and thanks God for all that happened with me, and I’m ready to fight this Saturday.”
