10 Lightweight Prospects the UFC Should Sign in 2023

Anthony “The Genius” Romero

25 | 5’11″ | Ontario, Canada | 11-1 | 4 finishes | 3 KO/TKOs, 1 Submission | Combined Opponents’ Record: 64-27 | Best Win – Mike Breeden (8-2)

It’s a shame Romero isn’t already in the UFC. He was snubbed of a UFC contract on the Contender Series in 2020. The guy he beat, Mike Breeden was signed to the UFC at a later date. He did suffer one setback in 2021 but is on a two-fight win streak. Romero has won multiple titles as an amateur and is 20-2 as a pro and amateur combined.

Romero is a Taekwondo black belt and a world IBJJF bronze medalist. Romero is extremely well-rounded. He has excellent wrestling, a good ground game, is very technical on the feet, and has a great gas tank. Hopefully this is the year the UFC gives this guy a chance because it’s long overdue.
