LFA 148’s Richie Miranda: “Machete Comes to Kill, and It’s Chopping Time!”

Undefeated lightweight prospect Richie Miranda is back in action on Friday night at LFA 148, looking to improve his professional record to 6-0.

Last time out, Miranda (5-0) saw his hand raised against Elijah Harris, care of a ground n’ pound TKO that “El Machete” was very happy with.

“I felt good. I really didn’t take any damage other than just getting elbowed from the bottom when I was on top,” Miranda told Cageside Press in an exclusive interview. “So I came home with a black eye, but I was happy with it. Finished it in the first round like I told you. I went 2 for 62 strikes, which was pretty awesome. Got the finish, so it was a good performance on my end.”

This time around, it will be James Wilson opposite Miranda in the LFA cage, himself a budding prospect at 155. Acknowledging Wilson’s wrestling skill, Miranda still sees the booking as a favorable one.

“I think it’s a good match-up. The kid’s tough. He pretty much wrestles, but I’m going in there to finish this dude. I’ve got better standup, I’ve got better top game, I’ve got better wrestling, I’ve got better ground. I’m always looking for the finish, so it’s just going to be another day at the office for me. I’m excited.”

The plan for “El Machete” is to keep his 100% finish rate intact. “Of course. Yup. You already know, Machete comes to kill, and it’s chopping time!”

2022 has been stellar for Miranda thus far. He’s hoping for bigger things as 2023 quickly approaches.

“Overall it’s been a great year, and I’m excited to finish it off with another finish, and go into 2023 ready to get either a title shot for LFA, or get the call. That’s the plan.” A big win could lead him to call for a title fight on Friday. “Of course. I did it last time, but it didn’t come through. Maybe it’ll come through this time.”

As for that call up, “I know I’m UFC ready already,” Miranda said. “But if it takes another fight, or if I get the call short notice or whatever, I’m ready to get in there.”

Richie Miranda returns at LFA 148 on Friday, December 9, 2022 in Commerce, CA. The main card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.
