UFC 282: Darren Till Never Considered Walking Away From MMA

Las Vegas, NV – UFC middleweight Darren Till has been out for over a year, but he makes his long-awaited return against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282 on Saturday night.

Till (18-4-1) last fought in September 2021 where he lost via submission against Derek Brunson. After a long time off, including pulling out of a fight due to injury, he’s finally getting back into the octagon at UFC 282.

“It’s good. I’m actually happy. You just get asked the same questions all the time. I don’t know…you just have to answer the same answer all the time. It’s good. Ready to fight Saturday,” Till told Cageside Press among other media on Wednesday.

With the losses, and then such a long layoff, Till still wasn’t deterred from continuing his fight career.

“I’m in my twenties. I’ve been to the absolute peak of the sport, and you know get knocked down 20 times, get up…always get up. Feel like I stayed true to myself. I’m not motivated by money of fame. I’m motivated by the goal I set myself. MMA is a unique sport the only individual sport where the best fight the best I believe,” Till said.

Du Plessis (17-2) comes into the fight on a three-fight win streak and looks to continue the trend against Till.

“He’s been beating people. He’s on a rise. Obviously I’m the guy to take the fight. He’s looking up….people say I’m looking down. I feel like I’m looking up and he could be looking down on me because he’s the one winning,” he said.

“It’s just going to be a good fight. I don’t think there’s any smack talk to be said. He’s f*cking South African I don’t think they even use profanity. He’s a nice guy all I wanna say.”

With Till no longer on this seemingly sky-rocketing path to the top of the MMA world he’s taken a much more traditional approach to fighting.

“I just trained really hard as I always do for this fight. I’ve just come in prepared. I’m very, very prepared for this fight. Feel like in the shape of my life actually.”
