Luis Gurule Wants To Follow Teammate Brandon Royval’s Footsteps, Be An Exciting Flyweight

The flyweight division has been on absolute fire the past few years, and another fighter who has finished all of his fights in his young career should be on everyone’s radar.

Luis Gurule (2-0) returns to action for the third time this year at MCF 23: Salute to Veterans 2 on November 11th. He faces fellow undefeated fighter Jayson Scott.

Gurule fights out of Factory X in Englewood, Colorado, and has been turning heads in all of his fights so far. He has finished every opponent he has fought thus far, dating back to his short amateur career.

The 28-year-old wants to follow his teammate Brandon Royval’s path. Royval is always must-watch television, and Gurule sees that in himself.

“I want to fight like Brandon Royval. He gets a f*cking finish and bonus in almost every fight in the UFC,” Gurule told Cageside Press in an exclusive interview. “So, I’m just trying to follow in his steps, trying to be exciting. An exciting flyweight that can potentially get signed to the UFC next year, hopefully, if everything goes right.”

With the UFC always looking for flyweight prospects, Gurule can absolutely see himself fast-tracked to the biggest fight organization.

“It’s like every day I gotta be super intentional about practice. You know, I feel like I can’t have an off day because I constantly want to work. I want to get better. I want to catch up to the super high-level guys out there in the UFC,” Gurule said. “But of course, first, I got to get past the next guy in front of me, and that’s Jayson Scott. I don’t see any way that I don’t beat him in this match-up.”

Gurule is looking to keep his 100% finish rate this Friday by any means necessary. He also has his next fight booked, which will take place almost a month later at Colorado Combat Club 15.
