UFC Vegas 64: Marina Rodriguez Not Worried Lemos Is Late, Knows She Gets Next Shot With Win

Las Vegas, NV – UFC strawweight Marina Rodriguez is ready for her main event bout at UFC Vegas 64, but her opponent hadn’t even arrived to fight week as of Wednesday.

“Not really (stressed about it). The most important thing, I’m here, I’m ready, I’m finishing my training camp to be ready to fight Saturday,” Rodriguez told the media through a translator on Wednesday.

The fight with Lemos was not originally set to be the main event, but was moved up when the original headlining fight between Bryce Mitchell and Movsar Evloev was canceled. Evloev withdrew from the bout due to injury.

“All those changes are good for me. I got one week more to do my training camp. I like fighting here at the APEX it’s more easy going. It’s not crazyness like PPV card. I feel very comfortable fighting 5 rounds so I’m good to go,” she said.

Lemos (12-2-1) comes into UFC Vegas 64 having won 6 of her last 7 bouts including wins over Angela Hill and Michelle Waterson respectively.

“I know she’s very tough. She has really good victories. She got really good victories in the UFC. But we are both aggressive strikers so I’m 100% confident that our fight has everything to be fight of the night,” said Rodriguez.

UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 12th puts current strawweight champ Carla Esparza against former champion Zhang Weili. Many believe the fight between Rodriguez and Lemos could be considered a #1 contender bout.

“I’m very confident that if I defeat Amanda, no matter how, I’m going to be the next challenger. If everything goes perfectly I’m going to be there to see this fight,” she said.

For Rodriguez it doesn’t matter who

“For me to be honest, doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters I’m going to be there,” she said.

“I’m going to be ready.”
