An emotional Tresean Gore spoke of his mother losing a leg to diabetes ahead of UFC Vegas 63, making the TUF alum no doubt severely motivated ahead of Saturday’s match-up with LFA vet Josh Fremd.
Gore certainly started out like it, driving straight into a takedown at putting Fremd on his back. Fremd defended with a guillotine, but did not have it, though moments later they’d be back to their feet. There, Gore put the pressure on once more, forcing Fremd to defend another takedown with his back to the fence. Before long, Gore scooped Fremd up and slammed him down, drawing a reaction from the limited crowd in attendance at the UFC Apex.
From there, Gore took the back and got both hooks in, with a full half round still to work. A scramble saw Fremd escape, and he attacked with a few leg kicks back at range. He began adding some right hands up top, and backed Gore up, this time initiating the clinch himself.
In the second round, Tresean Gore decided to take Josh Fremd’s head home with him as a trophy. Almost literally. Gore caught Fremd in a standing guillotine choke as he was coming in, moved with Fremd as he went down — at one point taking Fremd off his feet, though Fremd helped by wall-walking — and kept the pressure on. Fremd went to sleep, and Gore went directly to the winner’s circle. Absolutely nasty submission, and one that will live on in highlight reels for years to come.
