The PFL’s season finale is expected to have a big, non-title featherweight affair on board, featuring two former UFC stars.

On Tuesday, ESPN was first to report the news that Shane Burgos (15-3) will fight Marlon Moraes (23-10-1) at the event. Both fighters recently signed with the league, and are expected to take part in the regular season next year. However, ahead of that, Moraes, who retired earlier this year, will move up to 145lbs to clash with “Hurricane” Shane.

The PFL’s November 25, 2022 season finale does not have a location or venue announced, but will feature all six of its championship fights.

Moraes, a champion in the PFL’s predecessor, the World Series of Fighting, walked away from the sport after losing his final four UFC fights. He fought for the then-vacant UFC bantamweight title in 2019, falling to Henry Cejudo at UFC 238. In his next fight, Moraes defeated Jose Aldo — a win so controversial that Aldo, not Moraes, went on to fight for the title Cejudo vacated the following year.

Brazil’s Moraes closed out his UFC run with losses to Cory Sandhagen, Rob Font, Merab Dvalishvili, and Song Yadong. But earlier on, he notched wins over Sheymon Moraes, Josh Hill, John Dodson, Raphael Assuncao, and current UFC 135lb champ Aljamain Sterling.

Burgos recently parted ways with the UFC while on a two-fight win streak, having defeated Charles Jourdain and Billy Quarantillo in his last two outings. That’s a move UFC President Dana White admitted was a mistake on the promotion’s part.
