UFC 278: Ange Loosa Hopes to See UFC Africa Take Place Some Day

Salt Lake City, UT — Ange Loosa went through a three-round war with A.J. Fletcher at UFC 278, in a fight that saw Loosa nearly finished by his opponent.

In the end, however, Fletcher’s eagerness to finish the fight cost him, and allowed Loosa himself to get the upper hand.

“The thing is, he was trying to put me away so bad, he got so tired,” Loosa (9-3) told media outlets including Cageside Press following the fight. “Then I feel like he started quitting a little bit.”

Having secured his first UFC win, welterweight Loosa is hoping to fight again by the end of the year. “I want to get back as soon as possible. I want to stay active,” he stated. “We’ll see how I feel. I think the end of next week, I’ll be back in training, and we’ll see. But I really want to fight before the end of the year.”

It may not happen soon, but some day, Ange Loosa also hopes to fight at home. Though he now trains in the U.S., and previously Switzerland, he’d love to see the promotion head to Africa, and the Congo.

After all, the UFC has (or well, had prior to Kamaru Usman being knocked out by Leon Edwards) three African champions.

“It means a lot for me. I really hope one day we’re going to have a UFC Africa. It’s going to be big, huge,” said Loosa. “There’s a lot of things to do there. In my country, Congo, I know we have a lot of potential. In the future, I hope we can build something there too. It would be nice for the UFC to get there, because like you said, we have three African champs, so it’s huge. It’s big.”
