UFC 277: Sergei Pavlovich Ready For Texas Crowd, Sees Unpredictable Fight With Lewis

Dallas, TX – UFC heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich is fighting on American soil for the first time in his professional career when he takes on Derrick Lewis in his home state at UFC 277 on Saturday night.

“I feel great about (fighting in the US on a big PPV for the first time in my career). There was a lot of work done about this, I’m really happy about this, and I’m just waiting for the fight,” Pavlovich told reporters through a translator on Wednesday.

Pavlovich takes on Lewis who is a fan favorite and a real force in the heavyweight division.

“He’s a great fighter, he’s a dangerous fighter. In my career there’s been a lot of great, dangerous fighters. Like I said I’ve done the work. I’m 100% ready and the fight will show,” Pavlovich said.

“There’s a different game plan for every preparation, for every fight, so every different opponent is hard to prepare for. Nothing different here. You have to watch the fights you have to see what he’s capable of and prepare that way.”

With a fighter as tough as Lewis is Pavlovich knows better than to look past him and make any plans for the future.

“I always say let’s fight first, and then we’ll see where I land,” said Pavlovich.

With two heavy hitters entering the octagon fans can surely see a finish in this one.

“I think it’s the most unpredictable fight because at any moment something can happen,” he said.

Ultimately Pavlovich enters enemy territory with an opponent from the state of Texas, and a loud contingency of fans ready to road when ‘The Black Beast’ makes his walk to the octagon.

“It’s an obvious fact of course, but when you get into the cage all of that goes away. The noise goes away and you only concentrate on your opponent and your plan,” said Pavlovich.

“So sure, but I’m not going to worry about that.”
